Cannabis and Steak
Steak and cannabis are a heavenly-made match.
Grilling a steak on a warm, sunny day as you enjoy your favorite strain-rolled joint is an experience everyone should have. Whether in a park, on a camping trip, or enjoying time with friends at your home barbecue grill-out, smoking some cannabis is a sure-fire way to spice up your culinary outing, especially when choosing one of the strains shared down below.
The succulent taste of a steak, coupled with the earthy aroma and tropical flavors of cannabis, makes for a steak-grilling experience that won’t disappoint. Adding to the deliciousness of these mouth-watering flavors, a side dish is also a great addition to your cannabis-inspired cookout.
A representative from the Organix Dispensary, Jacob Kelly (a self-proclaimed BBQ fanatic), shared that he loves cannabis and combines Mary Jane with steak and other culinary marvels whenever possible.
I’ve been grilling for years, and my steak freezer is as stocked as my stash box. Cannabis has been used for thousands of years for its appetite- and taste-enhancing properties. As good as your steak is going to be, with the help of a suitable cannabis strain, it could taste even better.
Take your steak game up a notch, review the strains below, and enjoy your steak like never before.
Cannabis Cookout
On a sunny day, a cookout is the perfect outing. With meat on hand and a grill ready to blaze up (no pun intended), you’ll be ready to make your steak to perfection. You’ll stimulate your appetite, enhance your taste buds, and enjoy your personally-made steak all that much more.
Today, we’ll be reviewing some of the best strains to enjoy while preparing a steak, so you too can enjoy the flavors as Mother Nature intended.
As a lifelong cannabis user, activist, and contributor to various cannabis-based news sources, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about and use a variety of different strains. Aside from my cannabis advocacy, I’m also a culinary hobbyist, exploring and testing unique dishes on a nearly weekly basis. This holds true too for cannabis use; I try a new strain monthly.
Over time, I’ve learned which strains pair best with food—not just food in general, but more specifically, steak, my personal favorite food. Now, I’ll be sharing the strains I enjoy the most when prepping a steak, and you too should try one (or all) of the strains referenced to enhance the steak-making experience and during-eating enjoyment.
Banana Kush and Steak
Banana Kush is a personal and cannabis-community favorite. It’s a strain that takes longer to settle in than most others, which makes it the perfect strain companion for grilling a steak; by the time it’s ready to eat, the high will have kicked in, and you’ll be ready to indulge.
Banana Kush will stimulate your appetite and palate, perfectly coinciding with meats such as steak. Chicken wings and Banana Kush are another great pairing (my little secret).
Blue Dream and Steak
Considering that steak is a heavier meat, this Sativa-dominant strain is one I always recommend to those planning a steak cookout. Blue Dream’s uplifting high helps to counteract the fullness and fatigue and will enhance your appetite greatly (more so than other strains, in my opinion).
Psychoactive Sativa strains (such as Blue Dream) cause highs that inundate your head and cognition. This makes Blue Dream a great steak partner.
When you’re eating your delicious steak, you may think you’re full after many bites, but you just may find yourself continuing to stuff your mouth thanks to the influence of this appetite- and high-uplifting strain.
Holy Grail Kush and Steak
This mouth-watering combo is one you won’t soon forget. Holy Grail Kush has a peculiar aroma. If I had to describe it, I’d say the smell has a BBQ and smokiness hint to it. When indulging in a steak, what you’re most concerned with is the taste in your mouth.
When pairing Holy Grail Kush with your steak lunch or dinner, the taste of your steak will be amplified as the indica effects take hold of your mouth and mind, while your deliciously-made steak satisfies your stomach’s cravings for savory perfection.
Jilly Bean and Steak
Jilly Bean’s aroma resembles that of fruity pebbles: flavorful, tropical, and sweet. JB is a citrus-flavored, Sativa-dominant strain that pairs well with steak and many other types of meat.
As a 60/40 strain, the uplifting high will deliver increased energy, even after a stomach-filling meal that would normally leave you couch-destined. Barbecuing is all about socializing, having a good time, and enjoying activities with cookout participants. This strain will uplift your spirit, keep you alert, and boost your energy to enjoy fun times with friends and family.
Querkle and Steak
Querkle is a lesser-known but great-tasting strain, boasting an earthy aroma and taste. It’s an Indica-dominant strain with a rather pungent smell and a powerful high. The sedative-like effects are well-balanced by the strain’s Sativa counterpart; especially when paired with a steak or kabob.
Usually, I wouldn’t endorse an Indica-dominant strain for outdoor activities or occasions (such as barbecuing) where socializing is prevalent. However, Querkle is a well-balanced strain. It relaxes you (just as you’d expect an Indica to do) but also causes a hard-to-describe cerebral high that’s rather uplifting. Querkle may not be a mainstream strain; however, if you want to elevate your steak-grilling experience with an out-of-this-world high, it’s a must-try strain.
